A complete review of the latest game Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is a first-person shooter game that is developed by Sledgehammer Games and is published by Activision. The title was released for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. There was a Day Zero Edition that was released a day earlier on November 3, 2014. This is the 11th title in the Call of Duty series that was initially launched in October 2003.
The publisher, Activision, has enlisted Sledgehammer Games to develop this title. The previous editions were developed by American game developer Treyarch. The story is set 50 years forward, in the year 2054. Private Jack Mitchell, of the United States Marine Corps is battling North Korean troops in Seoul, South Korea. While at war, Jack loses one of his arms and his squadmate Private Will Irons is killed.
At Will’s funeral, his father, Jonathan Irons offers Mitchell a job at Atlas Corporation, which is the world’s most powerful military contractor. Mitchell accepts the offer and Atlas Corporation gives him a prosthetic arm as a reward. Jonathan Irons is played by Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey. Atlas Corporation is fighting a terrorist group called KVA, that is led by Joseph ‘Hades’ Chkheidze.
With the high bar that has been set by the preceding titles, it sometimes becomes hard for the new ones to match the expectations. This is probably what happened with Advanced Warfare. Even after getting an actor of Kevin Spacey’s calibre on board, the title failed to provide the punch that was required.
